Tanzania Safari Cost Per Night (2026 Real Rates)

Cost Per Night, by Tier

$220 to $2,500+ Per Night

One Tanzania safari night costs roughly $220-300 budget camping, $400-650 mid-range, $700-1,200+ luxury, all-in with meals, guide, vehicle and park fees.

If you just want the single per-night number, here it is — per person, all-in:

Budget camping — US$220–300 per person, per night

Budget lodge — US$280–380

Mid-range lodge — US$400–650

Luxury safari — US$700–1,200+

Ultra-luxury — US$1,300–2,500+

These are realistic all-in averages — they include accommodation, meals, your guide, the Land Cruiser and fuel, park and concession fees, and drinking water. They exclude international flights, visa, tips and big extras like a balloon flight.

A whole safari is really just these nights stacked together, which is why your nightly tier matters more than almost any other choice.

What One Night Includes

It's Not Just a Bed

A Tanzania safari night's cost covers far more than a room: meals, your private guide and vehicle, fuel, park fees and water are all built into the rate.

A safari "night" isn't a hotel night. The nightly rate carries the whole day attached to it: your meals, your driver-guide, the Land Cruiser and its fuel, the park and conservation fees for the day, and your water. That's why a safari night costs multiples of a city hotel — you're not paying for a bed, you're paying for a day in a national park with a professional running it.

It also explains why the cheapest possible nightly rate often disappoints. Cut the rate hard enough and something in that bundle gives — usually the vehicle, the guide, or the location.

Why the Nightly Rate Moves

Season, Location, Group Size

Three things swing your Tanzania safari cost per night: the season you travel, where the camp sits relative to wildlife, and how many people share.

Three things move the nightly figure most:

  • Season. The same camp can swing 30–70% between green season and peak. A July night and a April night at one lodge are different prices for the same bed.
  • Location. A camp positioned right in the wildlife costs more than one an hour's drive out — and it's usually worth it, because you wake up where the animals are.
  • Group size. The vehicle and guide are shared per night too, so more people sharing pulls the per-person nightly cost down.

If a nightly rate looks far below the bands above, ask what's been traded — the location, the vehicle age, or whether you're actually sharing with strangers.
